Long-term thinking might not be humanity’s strongest trait. But while investments for the long-run are often praised, they are not a cure-all

What is long-term investment?

The OECD defines long-term investment as:

  • Patient capital that allows investors to access illiquidity premiums, lowers turnover, encourages less pro-cyclical investment strategies and greater financial stability
  • Engaged capital that encourages active voting policies and better corporate governance
  • Productive capital that supports infrastructure development and green initiatives, leading to sustainable growth.
